Patricia Stepler 1:07
Thank you for having me today.
Kathi Burns 1:09
Yeah, absolutely. So your productivity, you got to You're a girl after my own heart doing productivity. We all need that, right?
Patricia Stepler 1:16
Yes, we absolutely do. Yeah.
Kathi Burns 1:19
So tell me about your journey. What did you do before you became an imminent productivity coach.
Patricia Stepler 1:26
So my journey started as an educator. And so I taught school for several decades. And about the time I knew I could retire from teaching, my son did something very amazing to me. I had studied personal development my entire life. And yet, I felt like I never achieved what I wanted to achieve through personal development. I tried to follow what they were saying. And you know, I was a better person, no doubt, I was a better person, better teacher, better mom, a better wife. But I didn't have the success I was looking for. And my son who had a number of different medical issues. From the time he was born at a Clops long, and then they had both legs, we had get straightened down any to lazy eyes. And then he actually had juvenile diabetes when he was eight. And he wanted to be an athlete. So he had a lot of medical baggage there. That was an issue. And yet when he was 12, he told me he says Mom, you don't have to worry about put me through school through college, because my oldest daughter was in college, my second daughter was about ready to go. He said, I'm gonna go scholarship. And you know, I didn't believe he was gonna get scholarship. I never believed it. You know, I didn't know him that, you know, I just hugged him and thanked him. And, and so every time he would mention it, which was many, many times, I would just, you know, Oh, that's wonderful. And you know, things like that. So I always encouraged him, I never discouraged him. But in my heart, I didn't believe it. And especially when he decided was going to be an athletic scholarship. And then he chose baseball, and baseball, there really aren't full scholarships in baseball. If you're that good, you go pro. And so there is no money in baseball, which collegiate coaches will easily tell parents forget it. If you think you're going to get a scholarship in baseball, it's not going to happen. And yet when his lover came, he had a full scholarship. Yes, no, it wasn't a you know, an athletic one, because he went to a d3 school, which but it was an academic. And he manifested that. And the minute, I saw that amount and knew he had a full scholarship. Immediately. I knew he had caused that to happen, but I didn't know how. And how do I know and I would have encouraged them hold on more when he was you know, for six years when he was telling me this. But at that point, I was like, I gotta figure out how he did it. And so that started my journey. And it was like, once I discovered it, I had to share it with the world.
Kathi Burns 4:09
Absolutely thoughts were a deed right. He was a major manifester. Especially someone that who has physical challenges that he has. He knew in his heart of hearts that he was going to do it. And I love the fact that he kept announcing it over and over. Because I'm a big thought word deed person. You think if you speak it can manifest and obviously he is a he's a beautiful representation of that.
Patricia Stepler 4:35
Yes. And you know what I think what was interesting is he didn't know what he was doing. And so as I discovered what he had done, I've been sharing with him and that's when you said that about saying it over and over. What he told me was that every time he went to practice, whether it's football, basketball or baseball, and anytime he went to game, he always went in there with the intention of I'm getting a scholarship So he says many times as I said that to you, Mom, I said it 100 more times to me. And he didn't realize at the time what he was doing, you know?
Kathi Burns 5:10
But the universe responds. It always does.
Patricia Stepler 5:13
Yes, because it was not a straight path. Tons of disappointment along the way, didn't get to play in a team, he thought would take them to that scholarship, just you know, things happened. But they had to happen that way. Because he didn't have all the answers. He thought he had a plan. And that's what we do. We think we have a plan. And then the first time something goes wrong, we give up. Yeah, you know, and we say, well, that didn't work. And I saw how I did that many times in my own life. But thank goodness, he did not, you know, it was like, okay, that that plan we got to stop sign here. So we got to find new path.
Kathi Burns 5:50
I love it. It reminds me of something that I learned a long time ago, which if you don't, God doesn't give you a four color brochure or source. So whoever you want to call, there is no four color brochure. But if you have the end in mind, all the other stuff will be painted around you exactly hits and misses in the in the winds, and then boom, all of a sudden, oh, what you thought all along is right there. Maybe this will look exactly how you thought it would. But it's still there. The end results still there. Right? So I love that. So okay, so you decided at that point that you were going to explore? And then you decided you're going to start your business based on all the things you had learned? Is that how it all kind of happened?
Patricia Stepler 6:33
Exactly, yes, I went on a search for people that had the answers that I needed. Yeah. And when I started to discover the people and the resources, because they will come to you when you're searching, those resources always come. And so that's, that's sent me on my own journey. And then I decided, you know, I'm going to share this with other people. Because not only does my son have an amazing story to tell, and I can tell that through me, and actually, he's going to start telling his own story, because he has a whole lot more to share. But, you know, it's it's just that the world needs to know, because there's a lot of what I saw when I was teaching was there was a lot of kids that lived in this hopelessness. And nobody should feel that way. But until we discover who we are, and we discover what we want, and when you start to go after it, nothing much changes. And so you know, there's so much opportunity and things available, if we open ourselves up to it.
Kathi Burns 7:37
So now you're working with clients? What are your clients challenges that you help them solve? Like, what, where? How are they coming into you? What are they looking for and how do you assist?
Patricia Stepler 7:48
So most of my clients come to me because they want more money. That's, that's kind of a common thing. And sometimes you like better relationships, but you know, working with people, but ultimately, you know, when you can solve the money thing, you have a lot more time left in your life to do things or you really want to do, and you have a lot more fun. So ultimately, that's what I'm my goal is to help my clients to double or triple their income in a year. And, you know, if they follow what I tell them to do, and they take it to heart and they open themselves up to it, they can do that.
Kathi Burns 8:22
Yeah, absolutely. Okay, so you've been cruising down the road? How long have you had your agency now?
Patricia Stepler 8:28
Six years.
Kathi Burns 8:29
Okay and I know at some point during your career, you've gotten a little bit overwhelmed or needed to recharge. What what do you do whenever you feel a little bit out of sorts, or burnout and your business? What What's your secret hack?
Patricia Stepler 8:46
I think when I feel a little burnout, I find some good music or a good book to read. And, you know, look, look at what it's saying. Because a lot of times when you feel that burnout, you know, if you can pick up a book and you start reading something inspirational, it turns around.
Kathi Burns 9:05
Mm hmm. I love books myself. Yeah. So definitely immerse yourself in a book. And I think it doesn't even now I go in between motivational spiritual, fictional, whatever, you know, it's like, everything has a has a message for you. And I totally agree with that. That's great. So what's your what do you have a hack? Or what do you tell people when they want to create more freedom in their life? What's your advice for people who are just looking for you want more freedom you feel tied in to your business? How do you create more freedom?
Patricia Stepler 9:42
So I think we have to decide first what kind of freedom you know, are we looking for financial freedom? Are we looking to, you know, have freedom where we have the time and the money to do what we want to do when we want to do it? And and I sort of look at it Like right now in my life, because something I always wanted to do was have the freedom to travel, and to sometimes take my family with me. And you know, all that, you have to have money to do that, too. Right? Yeah. And I look at my schedule for the year, and my goal was to do a trip, like once every quarter, you know, I thought that would be way overwhelming. And I look at my schedule, I'm like, I'm gonna be gone here and here. And so it's training, but some It's vacation. You know, it's like, you know, even when you're in training, or you're doing things, you're still seeing a different part of the world, or, you know, different in different cultures. And, you know, it's exciting. So first, we have to sign exactly what does freedom mean to you? Because it means something different to everybody. But you know, whatever type of freedom that is, you can find it when you search within.
Kathi Burns 10:50
Absolutely, and I love that it's a really good point, Patricia is, you know, what kind of what is freedom? What is freedom to you? Some people just think freedom is having a three day weekend, some people think go to Bali some people think I just want a lot of money, so I can go buy this thing. So whatever it is, I totally agree. And I love doing retreats and doing conferences, and then taking three days afterwards. Right? Then you have your built in trip and also it's a write off. So that's kind of good. That's good. So if you have a lesson you're doing this for six years, what's the lesson have you learned through having a business and being an entrepreneur?
Patricia Stepler 11:31
I think the biggest lesson I've learned is that you have to allow yourself to become the person first. And, you know, we all have wishes and desires and things that we would like to have happen or like to do. And early on, when I started my business, it was a wish, but wishes don't come true unless you're become that person. So I think that's the biggest realization I've I've come up with is that you have to first be able to see yourself accomplishing exactly what you want to accomplish before it's ever going to happen. And chances are you have to become somebody different yourself. Because the person you are today has gotten you to where you are today. But the person you you need to be in order to go further. Is somebody different?
Kathi Burns 12:22
I agree totally. As far as obstacles have you what's what's the obstacle? Have you had something that's really kind of made you stuck when you were launching or throughout throughout the course of your company?
Patricia Stepler 12:35
I think the biggest obstacle for me was to come out of my shell. I'm very much an introvert. And I could stay in a room by myself all day long, and I'd be perfectly fine. But you can't help people if you're sitting in a room by yourself. So for me, it was to come out of my shell and, and realize that I had something that the world needed to hear. And to be willing to share that, you know, with people and to, you know, overcome my own fears, and procrastination and obstacles, you know, that I was putting in front of myself.
Kathi Burns 13:13
That's so funny. You're an introvert, but you were a school teacher? How does that how does that work?
Patricia Stepler 13:17
So I was fine being in my classroom. So I taught music too. And if you put me on a stage, like I was, I was the person I was that character ran so you know, I could perform in front of people. But to just go and talk to people was a different story. You know, give me a script. And I had it, you know. But yeah, I love to perform. But for me that was different than actually having a conversation.
Kathi Burns 13:46
Absolutely. Yeah, there's a big difference. I can so relate to that a lot. So I get your Patricia because I was a music major as well. So there you go. Okay, so if someone wants to create more freedom, what do you suggest to them? I know we've already touched on that word freedom again. But I don't want to put words in your mouth. I think I know what you're gonna say. So if I want more freedom, what am I supposed to do Patricia?
Patricia Stepler 14:12
So I think you have to, first of all come up with your goal, you have to live bigger. And you have to be willing to decide what that is. And then you have to become that person. You have to see yourself actually doing that. So we're going to become bigger, and then we have to play in a bigger stage. You know, you can't, you can't get that freedom if you're stuck right where you are, because you're in a comfort zone. And as long as you stay in that comfort zone, you know, in our mind, our subconscious mind is programmed to keep us comfortable and keep us safe. But if you want something bigger than what you have, you have to be willing to get outside that comfort zone and to fight that subconscious mind and actually just build a new thought process.
Kathi Burns 14:59
Mm. Get out of your comfort zone, think bigger, speak bigger than you live bigger and have fun. Yes. Love that. Okay, so I know speaking of bigger, you have an event coming up. And for those of you who are catching this in February and March, you're really good to go. Because you can go ahead and and get some discounts on this event. So let's talk about that a little bit.
Patricia Stepler 15:22
Yes, I'm, I'm having a three day event called Live Bigger, in which I'm going to share this formula that you, you know, shared in my introduction, because what I've noticed is that there are three common things that people have to do and it has to be done almost simultaneously, in order to achieve a bigger lifestyle. And when you can accomplish those three things together, you know, you can think bigger, you can play bigger, you can become bigger than you're on your way to just kind of soar. And so that's what the whole three day event is going to be about how to put those three things together, and to become that person.
Kathi Burns 16:04
Love it. Okay, great. So there's going to be a discount for that email down below. And for those of you who missed that timing, I think there's also something else that people can grab.
Patricia Stepler 16:15
I'm putting together a little package for you on tips that you can use to create a bigger lifestyle for yourself, and also a short video on how to overcome your fears. And your procrastination, because we all have times when we're afraid of something, and we're procrastinating, but if we understand what's causing it in our minds, then we can push through it and get to the other side. And once you get to the other side doesn't mean you'll never fear procrastination, again, it just means that you can refer to your memory that you know what you've accomplished before and move forward with move forward with new knowledge.
Kathi Burns 16:56
That's fantastic. Yeah, make sure to download it. I think it's really important because it never ends. We always want to get bigger and bigger and bigger. And every time we want to get bigger, there's always going to be that niggling little thing. It's like I can't do that bigger thing. But yes, we can. Absolutely. Yeah, download that sheet so that you can overcome whatever it is it feels that you feel is blocking you right now we all have something and as we get bigger, and as we expand, we're always going to have those niggly thoughts and but they can be trumped right like that if we have the right formula. So oh boy, I'm excited to have you here, Patricia and I really, really appreciate you spending time with us. And I hope your event goes off. I know it's gonna soar like an eagle and I can't wait to see what you're up to net. So thanks again for your time, and download everything that we have down below here on this podcast. Thanks, Patricia.
Patricia Stepler 17:53
